Recipe: Doughnut Upside Down Cake →
Guess what’s currently in the oven? Substitute cake doughnuts, of course, with a ridiculous variety from Krispy Kreme.
Cannot wait to nom on this delciosity. I would say “be still my beating heart,” but I don’t want to invite the already possible heart attack this could induce.
Stephin Merritt Documentary?! →
Apparently there’s also a Stephin Merritt documentary coming out too? Say whaaaaaaaat.
Too much awesome Stephin Merritt news in too little time. My brain can’t take it.
Stephin Merritt to Do Live Score for 20,000... →
“The Magnetic Fields released Realism, their latest album, this week, but band mastermind Stephin Merritt is still coming up with new conceptual ideas. The latest: A live score for the 1917 silent film version of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.”
Oh. My god.

Why Mexican restaurants are > everywhere else
Within 3 freaking minutes of walking in the door, I was seated, served chips and a drink, and my entree was brought out. Untouchable.
Youngs Double Chocolate Stout is basically a milkshake that gets you drunk. I approve of this with all of my being.
My job is currently ridiculously stressful, simply because everybody who’s ever done my job before me was clearly shitty at it. Thanks predecessors.
Is it happy hour yet?

A Health Care Chat
dangurewitch:
Democrats: Behold, our health care plan! Republicans: Sucks balls, yo. D: Okay, how would you improve it? R: Well, we’d rather you do nothing. D: Take a look at this compromise. R: Better, but do nothing. D: Here’s a new version, incorporating your helpful input. R: Have you considered doing nothing? D: We’ve made further compromises. R: Great! JK LOL do nothing. D: The House and...

fakeempires:
I crowd surfed in class today. Last semester of senior year: not that hard after all?
Haha. Awesome! It’s my experience that last semester of senior year is the most kickass. Mine was as following:
Internship with a minor league baseball team (obviously kicked ass)
Senior Thesis (class met 4 times, then I researched and wrote a thesis)
Independent Study (basically the...
Currently in the market for a good (and preferably not uber-expensive) USB/computer microphone I can use to record music with, if anybody has any experience with any and/or suggestions. It’ll be used predominantly for voice and keys if that makes a difference. Also at this point it looks like it’ll be used mostly to record Stephin Merritt covers, haha.

Charlie: Oh shit. Look at that door dude. See that door right there? That door marked 'Pirate'? You think a pirate lives in there?
Dennis: I see a door marked 'Private.' Is that the door you're talking about?
Charlie: No, I was talking about . . I didn't say . . what'd you hear?
Dennis: I heard you say you saw a door marked 'Pirate'.
Charlie: No, that's not what I said. Look, are we gonna talk about pirates all day or are we gonna find out what lives in here?
Re: The End of Me
It’s going to be Double IPAs. Goodnight!
Crap. Just remembered I’m supposed to go out tonight. Do I really have to put on presentable clothing? This is the worst.
Double IPAs vs Physical Activity
I’m not sure which yet, but one of these will be the end of me.
Just played Ultimate Frisbee for the first time in a few months, I’m squeaky clean, the Jets are on, and I have a growler of double IPA in the fridge with my name on it. Later I will eat cheap, delicious burgers and finish listening to the amazing albums I received yesterday.
This dude is a happy camper.
One of the professors in the department and I were discussing music the other day and he was incredibly interested to find out about the type of stuff I listen to. He was pretty blown away with my musical knowledge (I often forget that most of the people in the world don’t actually delve deep into discovering bands…I guess this happens when you surround yourself with people who love...
On Pecha Kucha
As promised, here are my more in-depth (and beer-fueled) thoughts on Charleston’s 5th Pecha Kucha this past Thursday:
I don’t really want to be in this town. I think anybody who knows me know this. I want to be in Austin, in Portland, in Brooklyn, in San Francisco. Places where things happen. Where musicians come. Where people genuinely care about progressiveness and art and beer and...
Skype
For some reason my gChat stopped recognizing my webcam a few weeks ago, so I started messing around with Skype instead. And since Skype actually works like a charm, I just had the lovely privilege of video chatting with one of my best friends who unfortunately lives 4 hours away.
Point being, if you have Skype, you should add me as a contact (kevinallensmith) so that I can have more video chats...

I generally love Keith Olbermann (though this whole thing is pretty ridiculous), but in case there was any doubt before this, Jon Stewart rules all.
SIR!
